Pte A. Mortimer served at Dunkirk, battle of El Alamain and the invasion of Sicily, before landing in
Normandy. He was a trained LMG [Bren] gunner and a Carrier driver. Sgt. Charles Eagles
believes that Arthur was his carrier driver when the Battalion advanced across the cornfield
to the north of Lingevres.

Major Swann was FOO to his Battery during the Battle for Lingevres. Captain A. Morrison,M.C, 4/7th RDG's,
met him in the village square during the hight of the action.
